Meet Dr. Joe Carr

My Chiropractic Journey

Growing up, I knew nothing about chiropractic care.

I grew up on the East Coast (Long Island), and spent 8 years living on the West Coast (Los Angeles & San Francisco). I moved to the Twin Cities to attend chiropractic college (Northwestern) and fell in love with this part of the country. I like the unique mix of “down to earth” Midwest lifestyle with the high concentration of theatre, art, progressive thinking & abundant parks, trails & lakes that together make the Bryn Mawr area such a special location.

I was one of those people who enjoyed doing so many things, that I couldn’t decide what I wanted as a career. I had a masters degree in psychology from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles and worked in the computer field. I also made and sold pottery in street fairs, considered a career in music, and practiced and taught massage. Then I met someone who was about to start chiropractic school. The philosophy and practice of chiropractic she shared with me matched my idea of how I wanted to help people. Since that day, I have never looked back!!

Chiropractic Education

After taking the appropriate prerequisites, I moved to Minnesota to go to Northwestern College of Chiropractic, located in Bloomington.

It was definitely the most challenging schooling I had been through.

Chiropractic Philosophy

In my mind, the chiropractic adjustment starts the process of reversing nerve interference resulting from lifestyle stress, and allowing the brain to better communicate with the trillions of cells in the body. I am always amazed by how this can re-awaken a person’s innate power to improve their health and revitalize their life.  This is has been the motivation for me to come to work every day with a smile on my face for the over 35 years.

Educating Others About Chiropractic and the Wellness Model

I am passionate about educating people in my chiropractic clinic, so they can make the best choices for their health.

I also enjoy educating people in the Bryn Mawr community and speaking to groups and businesses about a variety of health related topics. Probably my most popular is: “The 3 Secrets to Managing Stress”.
